Full Scuba Certification Classes for One or Two at Underwater Adventures in Hampton (Up to 54% Off)

Breathing underwater, like eating fireworks, constructing a monument, and getting married, should only be attempted if you’re confident you can do it. Today’s Groupon gives you all the skills you need to mingle with the mermaids for Scuba certification instruction at Underwater Adventures in Hampton. Choose between the following two options: For $125, you get a full Open Water Scuba Diver certification course for one individual (a $250 value). For $230, you get a full Open Water Scuba Diver certification course for two individuals (a $500 value). To fully participate in the class, customers will need to purchase their own NAUI or SSI textbook package ($89.95) and personal snorkeling gear (not included in today’s Groupon). Underwater Adventure’s experienced aquanauts prepare students for a life of h2o exploration during comprehensive scuba certification courses and practice dives. For the first three days, scuba certification begins in a dry classroom, where a certified instructor teaches diving basics, including how to read pressure gauges, follow safety protocols, and distinguish between a dive mate and a shark masquerading as a dive mate. Then, students apply freshly learned concepts in the controlled environment of the Peninsula YMCA pool during postexam practice simulations. The underwater tutelage concludes with a journey to Lake Rawlings for two certification dives that combine the school and pool-house teachings in a real diving environment. Passing students then receive their certification card, which also grants them VIP access to Poseidon’s exclusive nightclubs. $82 for a One-Night Stay for Two in a Deluxe King Room at the Baltimore Marriott Hunt Valley Inn (Up to $139 Value)

Quiet Getaway in Secluded Baltimore County Community At the foot of a cobbled path, neatly groomed evergreens nuzzle a gabled roof set against a backdrop of quiet Maryland countryside. The prismatic main building of the Baltimore Marriott Hunt Valley Inn juts out into the sky, its triangular ceiling reminiscent of a sprawling mountain lodge. Inside the lobby, a warm, rustic sensibility blends with elegant and modern touches: rows of wooden beams line the interior of the ceiling, which dangles with twinkling lanterns, and a fireplace roars near stylish couches. In a king room, light spills from floor-to-ceiling windows, illuminating pillow-top mattresses dressed in white linens and up to six plush pillows. Cardiovascular equipment and free weights line the private health club, which is accessible for 24 hours just by flashing a guest-room key card or shouting last week’s winning lottery numbers. The Cinnamon Tree restaurant helps fuel early-morning workouts or sightseeing excursions with hot, fresh fare and cooked-to-order eggs at the breakfast buffet. After a long day out, guests can relax in the indoor-outdoor connecting pool. Hunt Valley, Maryland: Tranquil, Natural Sanctuary Near Bustling Baltimore Hunt Valley does not appear on most maps—nestled within Cockeysville, the unincorporated town provides a quiet escape from nearby Baltimore’s bustle. Shawan Road, the closest thoroughfare, reaches westward toward Oregon Ridge Nature Center , which unfurls across more than 1,000 acres of wilderness. The park frequently serves as the setting for outdoor events including maple-syrup weekends, honey-harvest festivals, music in the woods, and full-moon hikes. The Maryland State Fair Grounds sit on a 100-acre plot of land located about 5 miles south of Hunt Valley. Although the annual state celebration spans only 11 days in late August and early September, the fairgrounds stage year-round events such as motorcycle races, robotics conventions, and car shows. For travelers venturing into Baltimore, the city’s thriving Inner Harbor—crisscrossed by convenient water taxis—bustles with a multitude of cultural and historical attractions. Visitors can surprise a fisherman on his birthday by sticking candles in the city’s trademark crab cakes, which are served at many restaurants along the water. Among the area’s must-sees is the National Aquarium , which houses 16,000 specimens of marine life. Groupon Says Read more…

One or Four Rounds of Golf or Membership to Bow Creek Golf Course and Kempsville Greens Golf Course (Up to 71% Off)

Mastering a peerless golf swing requires intense concentration on the arc of the club and a healthy disregard for the condition of your neighbor’s statue garden. Choose from the following options: For $14, you get an 18-hole round of golf including cart rental at Bow Creek Golf Course (up to a $33 value). For $14, you get an 18-hole round of golf including cart rental at Kempsville Greens Golf Course (up to a $33 value). For $52, you get four 18-hole rounds of golf including cart rental at Bow Creek Golf Course (up to a $132 value). For $52, you get four 18-hole rounds of golf including cart rental at Kempsville Greens Golf Course (up to a $132 value). For $399, you get a two-year weekday membership at both Kempsville Greens and Bow Creek Golf Courses (a $1,398 value). Members can play either course on any weekday by paying the $15 mandatory cart fee. Tight bermuda-grass fairways and encroaching water hazards coalesce for a scenic but challenging round at Bow Creek’s lush, 18-hole, 5,917-yard course . The relatively short grassy monolith compensates for its diminutive stature with a layout that calls for pinpoint accuracy, as wayward spheres must negotiate their way past waters looming on 15 holes and squirrels stocking up on golf balls for winter. Players should resist the urge to get complacent after reaching any green in regulation, as sloping terrain and slick bent grass conspire to induce more three-putts than the most sinister of heckling flagsticks. Slow-starting swings may suffer, as the par 3 second hole demands a 178-yard tee shot into a daunting green guarded on the left, front, and back by a treacherous pond. Course at a Glance—Bow Creek Golf Course: 18-hole, par 70 course Bermuda fairways, bent-grass greens Length of 5,917 yards from the farthest tees Course rating of 68.8 from the farthest tees Slope of 123 from the farthest tees Three tee options available Link to scorecard More aquatic hazards await golfers along the emerald alleyways of Kempsville Greens’ 18-hole, 5,843-yard course . While water threatens to snatch the life-forces of unsightly slices and hooks on 12 holes, Kempsville clogs corridors bereft of water with a gauntlet of menacing bunkers. On the par 4, 441-yard eighth, a series of deep sand traps ensnare balls that stray to the right, aggressively affirming the hole’s reputation as the course’s most difficult and the most logical meeting place for the local caucus of sentient rakes. Rounds finish memorably at the par 4, 376-yard 18th, where players must negotiate the curvaceous fairway of a slight dog-leg left while avoiding four water hazards—two on each side, including one behind the green—before tapping the ball in the final hole and shot-putting their putter into the pond in a gesture of respect for the course. Course at a Glance—Kempsville Greens Golf Course: 18-hole, par 70 course Bermuda fairways, bent-grass greens Length of 5,843 yards from the farthest tees Course rating of 68.3 from the farthest tees Slope of 122 from the farthest tees Four tee options available Link to scorecard Rates at Bow Creek Golf Course and Kempsville Greens Golf Course fluctuate throughout the day and week. Guided Kayak Tours for One or Four from Chesapean Outdoors

Though barren for millennia, the Earth’s oceans recently enjoyed a population glut after a well-orchestrated SeaWorld jailbreak filled the waters with all manner of aquatic life and gift-shop sarongs. Catch a glimpse of the feral ocean-dwellers with today’s Groupon from Chesapean Outdoors in Virginia Beach. Choose between the following options: For $27, you get a 2.5-hour guided kayak tour for one (a $55 value). For $99, you get a 2.5-hour guided kayak tour for four (a $220 value). Chesapean Outdoors exposes nature lovers to the wilds of Chesapeake Bay with professionally guided tours that wend through the picturesque marine environs of the nation’s largest estuary. Tours feature sit-on-top kayaks that require no previous experience to maneuver, making even the lubbiest of landers a master of the waves. Tour-goers can choose between two options when making reservations: a dolphin-watching tour or a tour through First Landing State Park. On the 9 a.m. dolphin tour, kayakers paddle out to the mouth of the bay, smack into the middle of the bottlenose dolphin’s annual migration. Dolphins congregate in the area to mate and raise young, turning the bay into a combination cetacean singles’ bar and nursery, with the majestic beasts regularly jumping out of the water to impress dates or to remind their kids who’s in charge. Dolphin sightings occur on about 90% of the tours. In addition to extreme bottlenose proximity, ‘yakers can expect to see brown pelicans, ospreys, gulls, terns, and sandpipers flying overhead, and occasionally sea turtles and cow-nosed rays puttering about the deep. Those who rightly fear that the dolphins’ highly developed psychic capacities will allow them to divine even the deepest and darkest secrets of our human psyches can stay closer to the shore with the First Landing State Park tour. During the tour—usually in the early morning or late afternoon—paddle jockeys propel themselves through the maritime forest and wetlands that make up the park, feasting eyes hungry for avian fare on the herons, egrets, and kingfishers that populate the area. Halfway through the jaunt, boats are grounded and paddlers take a short hike to White Hill Lake to see the large numbers of osprey nests. At the end of the tour, mollusk maniacs can gaze upon the ancient oyster beds of the bay and learn about new efforts to reintroduce the delicious bivalve to the area. Literally paying it forward, Chesapean and Groupon will donate $2 per Groupon sold towards the JT Walk , one of the largest ALS fundraisers in the country. Additional donations are welcomed.
